How Baseline Works
Baseline is a free website readiness check. Paste a URL and you’ll get a fast verdict on whether your site is ready for traffic, especially paid traffic where tracking and attribution matter.
What Baseline checks
- Tracking & pixels: GA4 / Google Tag Manager, plus common ad pixels (Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn) when publicly visible.
- Analytics & ownership signals: sitemap.xml, robots.txt, HTTPS enforcement, canonical tags, and Search Console verification signals when visible.
- SEO fundamentals (surface level): title tag, meta description, H1 usage, Open Graph tags, mobile-friendly hints, and lightweight performance signals.
- Social presence: detects linked social accounts and mismatch (social presence without tracking).
- Basic stack awareness: CMS / platform hints (Shopify, WordPress, custom) and common analytics tools when present.
What you’ll see in the output
Baseline groups findings into Critical Gaps, Warnings, and Confirmed Signals.
This is designed to answer one question: What’s missing or broken before you waste time or money on marketing?
Limitations (important)
- No logins and no deep crawling. Baseline only uses public page signals.
- Some verification methods (like DNS-based Search Console verification via Cloudflare) may not be detectable from the page HTML.
- Results can vary by page. If your tracking is only on some templates, scan a few key pages (home, product/service, checkout/lead form).
Why this matters for paid traffic
If GA4/GTM/pixels are missing or duplicated, you can’t trust conversion data. Baseline helps you catch the “oh shit” problems
before you spend on ads.
